What is Activ-Vial™?
For the bacteria strains to remain alive inside your probiotic capsule or powder, they must be protected from warmth and humidity, otherwise they will start to break down and become less effective. Refrigeration is one way to ensure a stable temperature and low humidity environment is maintained. However, having to refrigerate your probiotics isn’t always convenient for many people. The flexibility and portability of a fridge-free probiotic supplement may be a more attractive option. Activ-Vial™ is a unique double wall packaging technology that protects the probiotics inside from moisture, light and heat and guarantees the product remains active even after you’ve opened the bottle. Activ-Vial™ allows probiotics to stay live, effective and at full strength, without refrigeration, in Australian temperatures.
How does it work?
You’ve more than likely come across a little desiccant sachet in your vitamin and mineral supplements, which are there to absorb moisture and keep your tablets and capsules dry. You might even find these in other probiotic supplements on the market. Because probiotics are particularly fragile, they require more than a sachet to keep them stable. Activ-Vial™ technology involves a specially-designed, double-walled insulated bottle lined with a desiccant sleeve of moisture-absorbing polymers, that continually trap moisture and reduce light. This protects the sensitive probiotic bacteria inside and ensures they remain active throughout the duration of use and until the expiry date of the product. So you can be confident that you’re actually getting the number of bacteria stated on the bottle and your money’s worth.
Why is it better?
The industry standard for fridge-free probiotic supplements is a simple desiccant canister or sachet, which doesn’t guarantee protection. This method allows moisture to continually pass through the product en route to the scavenging desiccant, which can affect probiotic stability and doesn’t ensure that they will remain live and active until expiry.

All fridge-free, shelf-stable Inner Health products use Activ-Vial™, so you can rest assured that the probiotic bacteria remain viable while you’re using the product and you get the benefits you’re after. Some Inner Health probiotic supplements do still need to be refrigerated, so it is always best to check the label for storage instructions if you are unsure.
